My Netbook Reflection.

This year I am a year 7 at Pt England School and I have had my Netbook for about 3 years. My positive thing is that I am very pleased to have netbooks because for me it is much easier to do my subject in school. The most easiest subject for me to do in my netbook is writing because it is much faster to type rather than writing in a book and using a pencil for hours and hours.

My netbook has really helped me for my learning. I do my writing, maths and reading on my little device. I have become a better speller and have improved in my maths, but still improving in my reading. It has helped me alot because of the sites on the net that I can go on like maths whizz, xtramaths and studyladder. Another thing is that I can go onto the net and do some research if I need a piece of information to help me.

I would never go back to paper and pencil old school style. The reason why I would not go back to paper and pencil because it is boring writing for hours and it doesn’t have an auto speller to correct my spelling if it wrong, and it much easier for the teachers because they could just go on the teachers dashboard to look at your work and what have you improved instead of handing in the writing books.

Mt Tongariro Eruption.

It was reported by scientist that they believed Mt Ruapehu was very active to erupt, However it appeared that near the Central North Island of New zealand, Mt Tongariro erupted but it didn’t last for a period of time until it was pronounced calm.

It was minutes away till 1:30 that Mt Tongariro had very largely bursted with such massive ashes claiming the Western Side in big DANGER. It was a miracle noticing there were no injuries, as for a group of schoolkids from Nelson Primary running for their lives as they were taking a hike up Mt Tongariro.

Most people around the Western Side near Mt Tongariro were very shocked because there were no warning with the eruption of Mt Tongariro. There was an huge ash plume shooting in the air for about three kilometres into the sky.

Maori Fairy Tale, By Ahsin, Raenan & Samuela

Long ago there was a girl that lived in Whakatane up the road from Rotorua . The little maori girl would always wear her Korowai (feather cloak) when she was to leave her whare (house) , everyone in her tribe called her the Whakatanein.

This one beautiful morning she asked her whaea (mother) if she was allowed to visit her grandmother, because she hadn't seen her in quite a while. Her whaea said “that’s a good idea Whakatanein”  So they made a basket of kai to take.

While she was strolling down the narrow path picking up kumara from the soil to take to her grandmother’s house, she saw a dark shadow approaching her and it was a scaly, hairy taniwha . She was so scared that she used her french stick in her basket to hit the taniwha however no damage was done.  So then she got out her big 6 foot snapper and slapped it across the face of the hairy monster repeatedly. Off she sprinted in her toe nikes leaving the taniwha in her dust.

Once she could no longer smell the taniwha she started walking down the path safely again .... not realising that the taniwha took a shortcut to Whakatanein  grandmother’s house.  Whakatanein got to her grandmother's house and knocked on the door while the taniwha was in the bed acting like the old grandmother.

Then she opened the door with her pukana face and saw her grandmother that had very big sharp teeth with big scaly ears and snake like eyes.  She knew that it wasn't her grandmother so she started playing around with the stupid taniwha so she made food for the creature and got a very poisonous fish that was a  spike thorn fish that was sharper than a hedgehog  and fed it to the taniwha and killed it but out of nowhere she  got her patu that her papa had carefully carved and whack its head back and forth encase the poison hadn’t finished it.

After taking care of the taniwha the grandmother reappeared from fainting after fighting with the monster she felt pretty happy after everything got taken care of, grandmother made some fried snapper with kumara for everyone around the village and everyone lived happily ever after enjoying the big feast.

The End
To all the people in whakatane hows it going bro.

Samuela Cross Country.

Just minutes away from the  annual occasion the school cross country. My group age (The 12 year old boys) getting ready to run the course. This is going to one of the hardest and grueling event ever in Pt England School.

Ready.... Set..... Go!!, as the 12 year old boys were jogging lightly down our school field. Splash!!, “OH NO” my shoes were sucked in strongly from the thick boogie greasy mud. As my shoes first hit the mud I felt stink because I knew straight away something bad was coming my way. The thick gooey mud smelt like poop all around the place.
Struggling to balance as I was wobbling side to side trying to pull my shoes out of the mud. I barely made it through the quicksand but my shoes were overloaded with the gooey mud. I will just imagine what my mother would say when I get home with dirty shoes.

Covered in mud from head to toe, I was glad to see the finish line when I hit the final turn. Struggling to accomplish the race as I was one foot in front of the other trying to hold off my challenger. Crossing the line, with feet burning I was completely exhausted as I collapsed in a heap. After the race I noticed that I have transformed from being a human to being a pig covered all over with thick greasy mud.

“Yesss!!!” Finally, just a few steps away from ending the hardest event that I thought was endless.

Mahe Drysdale.

Bibliography: http://wa3.cdn.3news.co.nz/3news/AM/2012/8/3/264084/mahe-1200.jpg?width=460

It was a huge relief when 5 time world champion Mahe Drysdale crossed the line and made New Zealand history.

Many New Zealand supporters waited for this much anticipated race hoping to witness Mahe Drysdale become successful in the men’s single scull.

During the previous Olympics Mahe Drysdale was denied a gold medal through illness. So for the last four years he has been training to become even better. His goal was to make sure he won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.

It was the last 100 meter during the final of the men’s single scull when it became a nail biting race as Mahe Drysdale gave it his  all to hold off his challengers, Ondrej Synek of Czech and Alan Campbell from Great Britain.

After Mahe Drysdales awesome race he crawled out of his boat and just collapsed on the pontoon completely shattered, but feeling elated at the same time because he had just won himself an Olympic gold medal.

I have just been lucky enough to witness a NZ history being made when Mahe Drysdale completed his race with a gold medal,  it will be a moment that will never be forgotten.

Reflection About Life Education.

For the last 3 session our class, room 22 went out to learn things at the Life Education van. The thing I found most interested in, or what I have learnt was making the right choice for what goes in my body to keep myself nice and healthy. The thing I learnt that can damage your body was smoking and drinking alcohol. Did you know that cigarettes has over 4000 chemicals in it and it can kill you. Cigarettes and alcohol is a addicted thing because once you're into it it hard to quit until you ask for help. Choices have consequences and it can lead you to positive and negative things.

Usain Bolt 2012 Olympics.

As you can see I have put together and produced a little animation about an Olympic event, and the event I’ve chosen based upon the Olympics is Sprinting. The athlete I have animated was a very famous sprinter from Jamaica named Usain Bolt. It was a fun thing doing a animation because I quiet like drawing and also animating. It took me quiet a long time to finish but I fought till the end and ended up publishing it.

Basketball Reflection.

Nice sunny day, Basketball was the sport to enjoy with your friends. Our class, room 22 went out for a session of B - Ball (Basketball). I was excited because I really wanted to play basketball especially in a nice beautiful Thursday morning. Before getting straight into learning Basketball skills we had two professional coaches that introduce themselves to us and was our tutor for the day, and their names were Tai and Shay.

Our first technique we learnt was the jump stop which is a good position to use if you were going to shoot. A jump stop is running, jump, stop with both feet turn with one foot then releasing the ball. Another skill we learnt during that session was passing accurately and feet work while doing it. The feet work to the passing was if you were going to pass you have to step forward with one foot then passing the ball. There are three different passes in Basketball. 1, chest pass, 2 ground pass and a overhead pass. A chest pass is passing the ball straight to their chest, a ground pass in bouncing the ball to them and a overhead pass is holding the ball over your head then passing it.

After that session of learning about the jump stop and passing, Tai told us we had to get into groups of four because it was time to do relays and the relays including or involved the jump stop and passing drill. The whole point of the game was whoever was first in line they had to run do a jump stop dribble the ball and run back and do a chest pass, ground pass or a overhead pass to the next person in line. In my group first in line was Joe. “ZOOMING” past as Joe sprinting to the line ready to do a jump stop together with dribbling. It was Joe leading after he got dream shattered when Mateo just zoomed right past him. It was quiet funny when Joe got dream shattered because he was really expecting him winning until the Ferrari, Mateo zoomed past him.

When we had finished all our skills our coaches told us it was time to have fun by playing a game called tag. It was girls against boys. It was a game of actually working as a unit and including everyone in your team. The whole point of the game was you had to pass the ball around between your team without running and trying to tag your opponents. It was the boys that was first to put their body on the line and actually try get all the girls out. Trying to tag them was quiet difficult because some girls were speed stars and they were too quick but we fought to the end and got all the girls out.

I really enjoyed spending my time learning new Basketball techniques and playing the game of tag. I hope next time we could learn more skills about Basketball.

2012 London Olympics.

We are now just 1 day away from the Opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic games in the city of London located in England. Did you know that London is the only city to ever host the Olympic games 3 times in the years 1908, 1948 and this year’s olympic 2012. Are you excited about the games because I know I am.

In the 2008 Olympics which was held in Beijing, China, USA got the most gold medals awarded to them especially to swimmer Michael Phelps who got 8 gold medals in his swimming heats isn’t that AWESOME. Now Michael Phelps is possibly hoping to get 16 gold medals against his opponents in the 2012 Olympics.

World’s fastest man Usain Bolt is going to compete in the Men’s 100 m, 200 m, and 4x100 men’s relay. His goal to achieve at the Olympic games is to broke the record on the 100m and 200m sprint heat and also win a gold medal. I think that Usain Bolt can achieve his goal at the games.
I can’t wait to Usain Bolt carve up Yohan Blake and Tyson Gay in the sprint heats.

The Olympic Flag.

The new Olympic Flag made its debut at the 1920 games in were held in Antwerp, Belgium. Pierre de Coubertin was the man who designed the new olympic flag.  I wonder how Pierre de Coubertin came up with the idea to make the flag?  He chose the five ring to symbolize five continents. There are six colours on the flag.

- White represents Peace and goodwill
- Red represents America
- Yellow represents Asia
- Green represents Australia( Oceania)
- Blue represents Europe
- Black represents Africa

I wonder what the big story behind the Olympic flag?.

My Favourite Place.

My special place is the Senior playground at Pt England School on the bottom field.
It is a special place for me because that’s where my mates and I just kick back and have good laughs at each others jokes.

The artist I tried to do was Henri Matisse and his style of painting is called Fauvism. Fauvism is kind of about using dark bold colours and simplified drawing to show the expressive effect.  I chose him because I thought it would suit my artwork. I think I have used colour really well in my painting but maybe to suit the Matisse style my colours should have been bolder.

Character Description About Ahsin.

Ahsin is not tall he’s short round and low to the ground. He has a long black scruffy afro hair just like a mop. He is Skinny with a big build and kind of stocky with his “quarter pounder” but in time, he hopes to downgrade and get a “8 pack upgrade”. He has chubby cheeks on his face that just cracks me up.

He is a caring guy and really like to help out little kids when they are having trouble with something. The funny thing is he always makes jokes about our teacher Mrs Nua. He is a funny person to be around because he is jolly happy most of the time BUT... if you mess up and do something wrong he will turn into a fierce bull and RUMBLE at you as your arch enemy, and I bet you it will be very scary! and frightening!.

The thing Ahsin likes to do is play darts with his dad and his mates, also he likes doing sports like playing touch with his neighbours around his hood. Another thing Ahsin like to do is play on his PS3. His favourite PS3 game is called Blacks Ops and it is mostly about team play team at shooting battles.

Character Description.

Tall like a tree my wonderful teacher Mrs Nua has blond hair. She has a nice smile on her face every day... But if you do something bad you will see the beast unleashed on the spot. Although Mrs Nua gets angry sometimes she is a wonderful teacher.
Mrs Nua is thoughtful and funny. She likes teaching us new things every day and she does it with laughter and makes it fun not BORING!. But  If you talk and don’t get your work finished you will get the eyes of doom! straight away.
Mrs Nua has coached a variety of netball teams. Mrs Nua should be a netball player herself because she is so  good at that sport. I don’t really like the sport netball but even when Mrs Nua is  teaching her netball, I noticed that she l teams she looks like she wants to play with them on the court.
Even though Mrs Nua growls us sometimes she still gives us the luxury of playing games. I like playing games with Mrs Nua because we get to play a variety of games. When we don’t listen to Mrs Nua we get the big eyes at us and the others laugh when it happens.

This is just a practise of my character description, next time you will be ready to see my real one coming up.

Kiwi Kick.

Finally!!!, it was our opportunity to go out and enjoy a game of AFL (Australian Football League). Filled with excitement as I was looking forward to play the game, unfortunately we had to learn some basic skills, BORING. It was boring for me because I was really looking forward to get straight into a game of footy. Before getting started with the game.  There were two awesome professional coaches that came to teach us. One called Sam (nickname Sandwich) and the other was Mike. After they introduced themself we had to go over a few reminders about the rules from last year.

Finally it was time to play a little game. The game was called Still tag. Still tag is a game about strategy and eyesight because you need to watch for your master to be tagged so you can run again. It was my favourite thing of the Kiwi Kick session.
Even though I am not an AFL fan I still enjoy playing AFL, because sport for me is awesome and fun. After our warm up game we were getting ready to play cat and mouse. The whole point of the game was if Sam blew his whistle and called out mouse then the cat have to try catch them and the mouse have to try getaway.  If he calls out cat it will be the same. Once Sam blew the whistle and said cat I quickly dashed off and tried get over the line before my enemy tagged me. It was funny because I would always run away from my partner and my partner will always complain.

I had a good experience learning the sports of AFL. I hope next time we could have some more fun!!.

Kiwi Kick.

On a sunny Thursday, room 22 and room 20 went out to learn about Kiwi kick or AFL ( Australian Football League)  where we learn how to play an awesome game and also how to do awesome kicks.

When we arrived to the courts we saw two guys that  were as tall as a tree one of their names were Sam ( Nickname Sandwich)  and the other guys name was Mike, after they had introduced  themselves we had to go over a few reminders about the previous time we had them.

After the reminders we got straight into but first we had a little game just to warm up our legs, the game was called in still tag, the instructions were : Tag anyone, but if you get tagged you have to sit down and watch their every move so when they get tagged you can get back up.

Soon after the game had finished and we were all warmed up, ready to learn new accurate kicking skills, after Sam and Mike talked about the basic skills they had told us to get into partners, each partner had a name I was named the Polar Bear and my partner was named a Penguin.

After a lot of fun kicking the ball around, we got put to the test by Sam and Mike, we had a little challenge between The Penguins vs The Polar Bears, we had to see who is the best kicking skills. The Penguins were the first team up they were pretty good but good enough it was The Polar Bears turn I was Everybody kicked the ball including with luck I managed to curve the ball and hit the pole and with that we had won.

We had beat the Penguins 12 to 16 making The Polar Bears the best, what a awesome day at kiwi kick, “I can't wait until next week.” I told my friends.

Artistic Style.

Throughout the modern art history art has been characterised by artists such as Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Daniela Hulme. Over the period of time the style of their art became famous. The style that I’ve learnt about Vincent Van Gogh was to use rough rapid brush strokes and layers to make the effect. The artist that stood out for me was Vincent Van Gogh because his technique stands out from the rest.

In 1874 a group of artists called the anonymous society of painters launched the movement impressionism. Monet was a member of the group that ran the movement. The group was unified because of the independence from the official annual salon.

Vincent Van Gogh was a dutch painter. He was one of the most famous painters in the world... but he had little recognition with his beautiful artwork and only sold one of his paintings when he was alive.
Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30th 1853, Groot-zUndert, near Breda, The Netherlands. When he was 16 years of age he went to hague to live with his uncle that was a art dealer. His own brother Theo was his art dealer. In 1878 he became a preacher in SouthWestern Belgium.

Henri Matisse style in art is known as fauvism. He was a french artist that used intense and bold colours. Matisse was influenced by the bright colours and the boldness. You would call these kinds of artists art critics because of the boldness in their style.

Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga Spain, 1881. Picasso’s style is referred to as cubism, his work deals with perspectives and angles. He is known for the backgrounds that he draws because they are random. In the twentieth century Picasso changed his style because he experimented with different techniques and ideas. Picasso was a Spanish painter, dutchman and scalped sculptures when he could.

During the time that I’ve spent on this piece of writing I have learnt about five different artists, which were Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse,

Sunflower.

Vincent Van Gogh was born is March 30th 1853, Groot-z Undert, near breda, Netherlands.
Vincent Van Gogh was a dutch painter. He was also one of the most famous painters in world history. This is my version of the famous sunflower painting's, the techniques that we had to use to paint the sunflower was small rapid rough brush strokes and try blend the colour in to make it look contrast. At the end of the product we were all overwhelm of what we produced and I was very proud of it.

Fauvism.

Henri Matisse was well known from part of a group of french painters and their artistic style of painting was known as Favism. Mantissa used bold colours and patterns. He had intense colour and rapid brushstroke in every painting he had drawn. Fauvism is a french word for " Wild Beast". He was also a famous artist in the modern 20th century of the art of Fauvism.Matisse tried to express as directly as possible from the excitement of nature. Most Fauves changed their style of art in the 1907 but the movement had a great influenced throughout Europe and Germany.

Immersion Experience About Pablo Picasso.

Pablo Picasso was in born in the 19 century on October 25 1881 in Malaga Spain. The way Picasso looks at his artwork is very interesting. His work deals with perspective and various angles. The style of Picasso is referred as cubism.

Picasso mostly spent his life time in Spain doing his painting. Picasso was most recognized with his artwork in the 20th century. He was a spanish painter, dutchman and did sculptures. On the twentieth century Pablo Picasso started to change his way of style because he experimented with different techniques and ideas.

My Camp Highlight.

Camp was a really good opportunity for us because we can have fun and create good friendship. The day started off pretty slippery but I was still looking forward to do camp activities.
This camp we had was at our own school and it was on Monday the 16th of March.

There was a camp that I got put in for the rest of our camp. My group was called the Respectable and our leader was Joshua and Hossanah. Every activity we did, our group seem to work as a team and cheer people on when they were having trouble at something.

The first activity we did on the day was kayaking. Kayaking was one of the activity I was looking forward to do at camp. As soon as we got there the first thing Mr Burt told to do was put on our life jackets just to keep us safe just in case we tip over. When we got told to go on a kayak boat I didn’t have one so I went with Mr Mulloy on his little boat. I had a good time riding on the boat because it was quiet fast. I was laughing because water was splashing on my face when the boat was going and I was very soaked up when we were back at land.

The camp concert was my favourite thing I like at camp. We were ready to perform to adult on Tuesday night and I was excited. When the night came I was ready to perform with my group. Our group was the third to last group to perform in the concert. Our dance we did was the crocodile dance. When we finished our performance we went back at sat down because it was time for another group. At the end of the concert it was time for the jurguers to pronounced the places. When the jurguers said our name they said I group were 5th place. We were proud of what we did on the stag.

I can’t wait to CAMPING Next Year!!!.
